The PYBC runs a variety of on water activities throughout the year that are open to members of any yacht club.
Yacht Racing
The PYBC runs a variety of keelboat racing throughout the year and all races are open to members of any yacht club. PYBC has a stable fleet of keen racers that enjoy the competitive racing that the club offers.
2 handed, 3 Legged Race
The 2 handed, 3 Legged race is the club’s premium event. With a number of clubs taking part, the race takes place over a weekend in March with a bit of a shin dig on the Saturday night.
The 2025 2 Handed/3 Legged race is bought to you by the Taurus Group.
Twilight Summer Series
This series is broken into two parts, the pre-Xmas series and post-Xmas series.
Both series involve a single lap around the course starting and finishing at the yacht club. The races occur on Thursday nights throughout the summer.
No extras are allowed in the pre-Xmas races.
Winter Series
Races in the winter series occur very second Sunday and involve to laps around the same course as the summer series.
Harbour Races
Throughout the summer there are several harbour races with varying courses and distances.
Destination Races
As part of our cruising calendar, the PYBC organises destination races that coincide with cruising destinations. Often these have a social aspect culminating with BBQ on beach.
Cruising
Every year we put together a cruising programme to encourage members new and old, yachties and launchies alike to enjoy our beautiful Hauraki Gulf.
There are usually 3 events, but will introduce more if the members support these. The rallies are low-key, but fun weekends with at least one evening BYO BBQ on the beach.
Fishing
The PYBC runs a variety of fishing events throughout the year. There is opportunity for both the casual and competitive fisher person with a monthly draw and the annual trophy competition. Our yearly fishing days from the club are “Golden Oldies Fishing” and “Take a Kid Fishing”
